This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile application "HCC2D Decoder" (hereinafter referred to as "the App"), developed and operated by Querini Marco and distributed via Apple App Store. In this Privacy Policy, "we", "us", "our", and "the developer" refer to the developer identified above.

1. General Statement

The App is designed to operate fully offline and does not rely on any external servers.

The App:

  • Does not initiate any network connections for transmitting user data.
  • Does not upload, share, or transmit any data.
  • Does not provide cloud services.
  • Does not integrate any third-party SDKs that transmit personal information.
  • Has no backend server, and the developer has no remote access to any user data.

The App may allow users to open external links, which are handled by the device's browser and not by the App. The developer does not control, operate, or assume responsibility for the content, security, privacy practices, or personal information processing activities of any third-party websites or services accessed through links contained in decoded scan results.

The App does not collect or otherwise process personal information beyond what is strictly necessary for its core functionalities, namely: maintaining a scan history; saving application preferences (e.g., language and appearance); and managing content obtained from scanned codes.

Any data that may contain personal information is processed only locally on the user's device, as a result of user-initiated actions (e.g., scanning codes or manual input).

When users first open the App, they must accept this Privacy Policy to continue. If they do not accept (by explicitly tapping 'Accept'), they must exit the App.

2. Definition of Personal Information

"Personal Information" refers to any information related to an identified or identifiable natural person.

3. Personal Information Processing

The App does not transmit personal information to any external systems. This means that the App does not transmit, upload, share, sell, rent, or trade any personal information with the developer or any third parties.

However, the App may process content obtained from scanning QR codes or HCC2D codes. Such content may contain personal information depending on its source.

Any data that may contain personal information:

  • Is processed only locally on the user's device.
  • May be stored locally as part of the App's core functionality (e.g., scan history).
  • Does not involve access by the developer or any external systems.
  • Is used solely for decoding and display purposes.
  • Is not used for identification, profiling, analytics, or external transmission.

We act as the Personal Information Handler (Data Controller) and are responsible only for the processing activities described in this Policy.

All data:

  • Is processed entirely on the user's device.
  • May be stored locally (e.g., scan history).
  • Is fully controlled by the user.
  • Is not accessible by the developer.
  • Is never transmitted externally.

The App does not perform any form of analytics, tracking, or user profiling.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Processing is based on:

  • User consent (e.g., granting camera permission).
  • Necessity for providing core functionality (code scanning and decoding).

Processing is strictly limited to what is necessary for the App to function and is carried out in accordance with applicable laws, including the GDPR and, where applicable, the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL).

Processing follows the principles of legality, legitimacy, necessity, and good faith.

5. Purpose of Processing

Data is processed solely for the following purposes:

  • Scanning QR codes and HCC2D codes.
  • Decoding and displaying content.
  • Storing scan history locally on the device.

6. Local Data Storage and Retention

The App may store the following data locally on the user's device:

  • Scan history.
  • Application settings (e.g., language, appearance).
  • Content obtained from scanned codes.

Such data may contain personal information depending on its source.

All data:

  • Remains exclusively on the user's device.
  • Is protected by operating system security mechanisms.
  • Is under the full control of the user.
  • Is retained for the time necessary to achieve its purpose, unless the user deletes it earlier.

Users may delete such data at any time. This also applies to Scan History, which is stored only locally and can be deleted by the user at any time through the App settings.

7. Permissions

The App requires the following permission:

Camera - used exclusively for scanning codes.

No data obtained through permissions is transmitted externally.

8. Data Sharing and Cross-Border Transfer

The App does not share any personal information with third parties.

  • No data leaves the user's device.
  • No data is transmitted to any server.
  • No cross-border transfer occurs.

9. User Rights

Users have full control over their data, including the right to:

  • Access locally stored data.
  • Correct data (where applicable).
  • Delete data at any time.
  • Restrict processing (where applicable).
  • Data portability (where applicable).
  • Withdraw permissions via system settings.
  • Request clarification about data processing.

Certain rights may not be applicable due to the App's offline nature and absence of centralized data processing.

We will respond to requests within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 30 days.

Users may also lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.

The App does not provide account registration or identity-based services.

10. Data Security

All data is stored locally on the user's device and protected by system-level security mechanisms.

However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

The App does not expose or transmit data to external systems.

11. Children's Privacy

The App is not specifically intended for children. Where required by applicable law, users below the minimum age for providing valid consent must use the App under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

As the App does not transmit personal information, any data processed by the App remains solely on the user's device and under the user's control. Users (or their guardians) may delete such data at any time.

12. Updates to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version will be made available within the App or on the distribution platform.

This Privacy Policy complies with applicable data protection laws, including:
